Getting Around Morocco

·

Just as France has the SNCF, Morocco has a railway network run by ONCF. Train travel in Morocco is one of the best ways to get around, serving the country's major cities.

By Train

Just as France has the SNCF, Morocco also has a railway network run by ONCF. Train travel in Morocco is one of the best ways to get around, serving the country's major cities.

In fact, ONCF offers four types of rail transport to help you travel comfortably between cities. You can travel on mainline trains that circulate throughout the territory, primarily through the central regions. These trains serve around a hundred stations located near the Moroccan rail network, which extends over 2,000 km. To address access to more remote cities, the rail company has established Supratours coach relay services.

Additionally, you can also travel on Rapid Shuttle Trains, which appear to be the most popular form of transport between Casablanca and Rabat. ONCF offers frequent departures—approximately every thirty minutes between 6 am and 9:30 pm. This train service is reinforced during peak hours, making it a highly successful transport option. This rapid train system has been extended to other cities, notably connecting Casablanca to El Jadida, and Casablanca to Mohammed V Airport. Moreover, trains are also available as urban transport under the name "Al Bidaoui". Al Bidaoui is a train that serves around seven stations in Casablanca within densely populated neighborhoods. This transport mode has since been expanded to other stations such as Berrechid and El Jadida. In Morocco, traveling by train within a city makes this transport safer and more comfortable than standard road transport.

Getting Around Morocco

Finally, ONCF offers combined transport services, specifically rail-road transport. You can travel by train from one station to another and then complete your journey to your destination by Supratours coach. This relay and mixed system allows you to reach cities not yet served by regular train service. For example, you can travel from Fès to Marrakech via Casablanca, then reach cities such as Tan Tan, Ouarzazate, or Dakhla by Supratours coach. The ONCF website provides extensive information about these trains and the various transport options linked to Morocco's rail network.
